The Oculus Quest 2 has been out for a few months now. And it's proven to be a very popular VR headset.
It quickly became the most search for headset on several of our sites. And for a good reason.

Today we're going to have a look at what we can expect in 2021 when it comes to VR porn, gaming and other uses. And if you still should buy this headset in 2021 or if something better will be available.
I can't answer this for the industry worldwide but looking at our own statistics, we saw a huge increase in searches related to the Quest 2. Especially searches related to VR porn.
It's safe to say the virtual porn industry has seen a big boost because of the Quest 2 sales.
Facebook wrote that the initial surpassed their expectations and that so far the set sold 5x as much as the original Quest.
Mark Zuckerberg himself has said
“The big milestone that I’m focused on here is we want to get to 10 million active units,” adding: “the ecosystem will really be able to be self-sustaining…
it will really economically make sense for independent developers to prioritize the Oculus platform above alternative gaming platforms.”

VR porn is a fast growing industry and the new Oculus has made things go even faster!
Even if you weren't actively looking at Oculus Quest 2 news then still must have heard about the angry customers who couldn't use their new headset anymore.
It turned out that Facebook blocked several users their accounts and as a result we're able to use their new Oculus anymore.
This didn't really come as a suprise as Facebook initially already made it clear you will need a working Facebook account with your real name attached to it. Which put a lof off people off from buying it. While reviewing the Quest 2 we also mentioned that we were no fan of these tactics. But that's the trade-off. You get a great piece of hardware for an amazing price. At the cost of some of your privacy.
The outrage seems to have calmed down by now. So we can assume registering and using a new device has become easier.
Facebook also mentioned you are now allowed to the same headset on multiple accounts:
“Using the same Facebook account on two or more Oculus headsets simultaneously will NOT get your account “banned.” Having the same account registered to two or more headsets is not against the Facebook Terms of Service”

Still, we wish things would be handled differently of course.
Believe it or not. There is more to do than watching VR porn on your Oculus Quest 2!
Obviously another good reason to buy a new headset would be for playing games!
And we're happy to say that gaming in VR has gotten way better this year!
Not too long ago most games were really just big demos. Or at least it felt like it. Very few big game developers were interested in investing money in VR games.
This all changed of course when Half-Life: Alyx was released earlier this year.
This shooter from the old Half-Life series was the first AAA release the game industry has seen for VR. And it was a great success. A ton of copies were sold and it actually boosted the headset sales!
Since then several new and big game projects have been released or announced. Which is great news. Because besides checking the best VR porn sites, >here, we just love to take a break at the office and play some awesome VR games!
Personally I was over the moon when Microsoft announced VR support for the latest Flight Simulator! It's already an amazing game in 2D. And in 3D it has to be out of this world.
It's been out since a few days but I have yet to find the time to play it. Hopefully soon after Christmas!

It's clear by now that VR gaming won't go anywhere. It will only get better from this point on. Big companies have shown that they're ready to invest in bigger and better games. The future looks bright!
So if you you we're waiting to buy a VR headset because of the lack of new games, I'd say now is the time stop waiting and start buying! You won't regret it! And when it comes to games, the Oculus Quest 2 is a good choice!
So let's say you're ready to buy a new VR headset in 2021. Would the Quest 2 still be a good choice. The answer is simple. Yes.
As far as we can see there is nothing new coming out in 2021 that will beat the Oculus Quest 2 when it comes to the price/quality ratio.
The Playstation 5 VR 2 is still far from launch and we have very little details yet. We expect the price to be similar to the Quest 2 but obviously you would need to own a Playstation 5 as well. So while the new Playstation 5 VR set will probably be a great product, it makes very little sense to wait for it if you want to buy something soon.

The HP Reverb G2 is out of as well. It's a great headset but it's also twice the price of a Quest 2. It has a higher resolution though. It's a good buy if you have the money and want to watch your VR porn in 6k or 8k resolution. >8K VR porn
But to most people spending 300 dollars more for an increase in resolution does not make much sense. Especially as the Quest 2 already has a great resolution. It will actually also play these high resolution movies. So don't think you are limited to lower resolutions!

That's pretty much it for 2021. 1 or 2 new headsets might pop up but most likely none of them will beat the Oculus 2.
We are really looking forward to the new Xbox VR set but as it's set to launch late 2021 it's still nearly a year away.
So it's safe to say if you want to enter the amazing world of VR any time soon then the Oculus Quest 2 is the perfect way to start. There simply won't be anything better anytime soon. Unless you are willing to pay double or more.

When it came to virtual reality, it was a truly exciting year! So much new things happened. New headsets arrived. The porn industry brought out some amazing movies. The games have only gotten better.
But obviously it was all overshadowed by the COVID epidemic.
