VR porn is really getting more and more realistic by the year. From when we used to watch virtual porn with large visible pixels, now you wonder how many pixels there can be at all!
When virtual reality porn came on the market we were really impressed with the 4K videos.
Who would have thought that 5 years later we would be heading towards 10K resolution.
When you download a video from your favorite site you can often choose what resolution you want to download it in. The bigger the number, the better the quality. For example, 6K is better than 4K vrporn and 10K is better than 8K.

Yes and no. This is because there is a limit to what our eyes can perceive. Some experts claim that our eyes cannot perceive more than 4K resolution. I personally would say I quite see a difference between 4K and 8K VR porn movies. But from 8K to 10K? I'm not sure it's perceivable.
So why are they doing it in the first place? Of course, the studios want to move ahead with the times and it is a unique selling point if you can say that you offer videos with X resolution. You don't want to watch a “lousy” 4K video with your Pimax or Oculus Quest 2, do you?
But then again, what is the improvement? Well, for one If you shoot a video in high resolution then it is much more editable for the filmmakers. Because the image quality of a 10K video is so high, you can zoom in further on what is important for the final image, while maintaining extreme sharpness. Believe me, this is more important than you might think.
And also it adds to how realistic you will consider the VR video.
This is perhaps the greatest benefit of increasing the number of K's in a video. This benefit, even though our eyes won't necessarily notice the quality difference, actually makes a video more realistic! Again, your eyes won't consider the individual pixels anymore.
You most likely wouldn't be able to tell by the pixels if you're watching a 8K or 10K video. But the immersion will be vastly improved. Your brain will translate what you watch as being more real! More like real life. And that's the whole point of virtual reality.
The end goal is to make everything you do with your VR headset on as real as possible.
We also hope to see an increased field of view in the near future, along with the increase in pixels. You might have noticed black spaces on the sides of the viewing field. That's simply the edges of the lensen in your headset. It's like looking through binoculars.
The new HP Reverb G2 already quite improved on this aspect. So you get a way bigger field of view. There is simply more picture in front of you.

Just like the resolution, this will get better and better. Until we have a completely filled view with no visible pixels whatsoever! Looking forward to it!
And obviously one of the best user cases (at least for our kind haha) would be VR porn. If the film producer manages to get a superb camera angle together with a super high resolution like 10K together, perfectly combined, in one movie…it will be party time!

At the moment, there are sadly no studios that offer these crazy high resolutions yet.
In fact, there are still sites that only go up to 5K! So we're getting a little too far ahead of ourselves. But don't be disappointed! Most headsets on the market today would not be able to play a movie resolution that high. So there is no point in looking for these type of movies. But we're getting there for sure.
I'm sure that within 1 or 2 generations of VR goggles we will see 10K resolutions and the VR porn producers will follow, as they always do!

Pretty much every studio offers at least 4K resolution movies. Which are nice and for most people already good enough. Those want to push the limits of their headsets should be looking for 5K and up.
For now the limit seems to be a very nice 8K resolution. Which is already quite amazing. We couldn't imagine this just a few years ago.
Keep in mind older headsets probably won't be able to play these files though. You're going to need a newer or PC connected headset.
These files are really big as well so make sure you have a fast download / streaming speed and plenty of space on your headset itself or your PC. I would highly advice storing and playing these files through your computer.
